The Reading Initiative Read it! Write it! Create it! was started because I realized that books have a huge impact on society and the way people learn. Books are motivation to help children expand their thinking. For example, books like Hidden Figures: The True Story of Four Black Women and the Space Race, and Ada Twist, Scientist, encourage young girls to reach for the stars and beyond! The Word Collector and Donavan's Word Jar demonstrates that words can be fun! The Dot and Beautiful OOps! tell children to be creative and it is ok to make a mistake!
